Make the climate cool, by making an uncool videoclip!

I think this is the most uncool rap & clip I have ever seen, BUT it is soooo uncool, that it is fantastic!! Or at least in my view. Judge for yourself.

piano stairs

I got this clip forwarded by a friend. In a subway  in Stockholm the stairs were transformed into a piano. You could create your own tunes by stepping, dancing, jumping and bouncing on the stairs.  It is an initiative of Volkswagen and if I understood it well (my Swedish is not that good) it is a stipend they hand out. More info (in Swedish) on www.rolighetsteorin.se according to them  “the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better is by making it fun to do. We call it The fun theory.

Workshop Lloyd

Last Monday I helped out with a workshop organised by Slowlab for the Lloyd hotel in Amsterdam.

Slowlab recently acquired space in the Lloyd for a studio as well as integrating slow concepts of attitude and sustainability in the hotel. I am looking forward to projects happening there.

On Monday there was a annual fest for the staff of the Lloyd and Slowlab was asked to playfully introduce them to concepts of slowness, as well as inviting them to contribute ideas. This was done by staging a treasure hunt in the Frankendael park! It was a great experience and as with all workshops the end result is unpredictable.

Several tags with adjectives regarding slowness where attached to trees, benches, flowers, etc. in the park. Artifacts were made from plaster, with an imprint of leaves and other natural elements and these treasures were hidden in the park. Furthermore, 3 musicians and several performers were placed in the park, ready to provide experiences of discovery! For instance, one of the performers was sitting in a tree with bottles of Cava and in this tree we had hung champagne glasses. So the finders would try to catch the cava with the glasses.

patience

After two years of delivering wonderful services my hard disk broke. That’s why I haven’t been posting that much, next to that post-MA-what-is-next..So my apologies. I haven’t checked my back ups yet, hence I am not sure if I still have pictures of my examination. It will follow in a week or so I hope. Also the pictures of my graduation exhibition got lost in the break-down. I am trying to gather them from family and friends.

For now some pictures of the test-project I did at the exhibition at Doga

I used old packaging of coffee, yogurt, olives, etc as wrappings. Inside there were business cards, a reminder (to collect goodness/happiness) and a task. Below some examples!

Cut the Crap

I really notice that I am the guinea pig in my own project. I feel tested over and over again. It is hard to break with old habits.

Vulnerability and failure are things we are not familiar with in our society and it takes practice and repetition to master this. Take for instance the movie Groundhog Day, the spell is broken when Bill Murray finally did everything right. The correct thing not being a general rule for mankind, but a personal recipe for enjoyment, understanding and appreciation of life.

Now, come on, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER …and have fun with it..hmpf

Clod Ensemble

They keep an eye on things. They observe. They witness. They gather evidence. They place sites of political importance and key landmarks under surveillance. They watch the Watchers. Each mission is a unique response to the architecture and the people of the city. When they arrive in a city they transform it, appearing on rooftops and in doorways. In places of political or architectural interest, commandeering their own limousines, their own brass band, once even their own helicopter.  From www.clodensemble.com

I really like this and I think as inspiration this could be valuable for project in a way that they are dressed the same which gives recognition (good for the viral part). They are acting out a certain behavior and that I can connect to the problems I have received and the selfish behavior I would like to change. Furthermore the Clod Ensemble transform the setting by their presence. I would like to try this in the parks,  public transport, city centre, Karl Johan, Opera, etc.
